10/26/2018.- On Friday, the Cinema & Wine section screened Wine Calling, which was attended by director Bruno Sauvard. The documentary was filmed in the Catalan region of southern France, following some of the new vine growers opting for organic crops, from harvest to bottling, for more than a year.
These new producers, who represent less than 3% of the total, employ organic, biodynamic and natural methods. For ethical reasons, this relatively small community of vine growers has chosen organic cultivation practices, with the aim of drawing out the natural expression of the land (understood as the harmony between the land, geography and climate) and allowing the wine to express its full character.
The session, presented by actress Ana Milán, was attended by French director Bruno Sauvard, who has years of experience in various fields, with a filmography touching on such different themes as beauty, vehicles, sport, tourism, comedy and drink. Within this variety, a common thread runs through all of his films: they transport the viewer to a particular place.
Seminci’s Cinema & Wine cycle is sponsored by the Ribera del Duero, Cigales and Rueda designations of origin, as well as Valladolid City Council, Valladolid Provincial Council, the Department for Agriculture and Livestock of the Regional Government of Castile and León (Tierra de Sabor), LAVA, the newspaper El Norte de Castilla, and radio stations Europa FM and Onda Cero.
