His documentary will compete in the Official Section of the contest
03/10/2017.- The 62nd edition of SEMINCI will host the Spanish premiere of Human Flow, the new work of Chinese artist Ai Weiwei, who will attend the contest to present his documentary to compete in the Official Section.
Ai Weiwei is known for his criticism of the social injustices and corruption of the Chinese government. In 2008, after the 8.0-magnitude earthquake in Sichuan, he launched a public inquiry to collect the names of students killed under the rubble of school campuses. Likewise, in 2011 he was detained for 81 days for his opposition to the policies of his country.
With Human Flow, renowned international artist Ai Weiwei addresses the issue of refugees. More than 65 million people have been forced to flee their homes due to famine, climate change, and war, causing the greatest human displacement since World War II. Human Flow is an epic cinematic journey in which Ai Weiwei offers a powerful visual expression of this massive human migration. The documentary proves not only the astonishing scale of the refugee crisis, but its deeply personal human effect.
Human Flow had its world premiere in the official section of the Venice Film Festival.
