The Family: Dementia (La familia (Dementia))
Giovanna Ribes. | Spain / France / Germany | 2017
Roger accepts to take his grandfather in his university apartment. He refuses to live in a residential home in spite of his attacks of senile dementia. Now they are two lost Roger, searching for a past that looks real, without understanding the present that looks like a lie. It looks as if, through his name, a fate has been imposed to Roger, the destiny of the men in his family: short-tempered, inaccessible, and slightly misogynist but unable to live without a woman. Roger, through the realities and fantasies out of his grandfathers mind, discovers the past of that family which defines him: secrets, old struggles, silence and the well-kept pain. Together with his aunt Andrea, he will, progressively, ease that pain and transform that family into a more livable one.
