10/26/2018.- The 63rd edition of the Valladolid International Film Festival, the SEMINCI, has received today the visit of Her Majesty the Queen Letizia, who has attended the concert-screening of Safety Last!, held at the Centro Cultural Miguel Delibes. The Castile and Leon Symphony Orchestra (OSCyL) has played live to accompany the silent film classic, directed by Fred Newmeyer and Sam Taylor.
Before the screening, H.M. Queen Letizia met in private with the governing council of the festival, presided by the city’s mayor, Óscar Puente. During this meeting the Queen shared her opinions about the festival and showed an interest for its development. Present at the event were also the festival’s director, Javier Angulo; the president of the Castile and Leon Regional Government, Juan Vicente Herrera; the Minister of Territorial Policy, Meritxell Batet; the president of the Regional Parliament, Silvia Clemente; the Regional Government representative, Virginia Barcones; and the general director of Cultural Policies of the Regional Government, Mar Sancho, among others.
Some outstanding figures in the filmmaking scene who gathered in Valladolid to celebrate the SEMINCI were also present at the screening. Some of them were Mariano Barroso, president of the Film Academy; director Guillermo García López; Wanda Film Distribution producer and president, José María Morales; cinema Professor at the University of Valladolid, Javier Castán; producer and member of the Film Academy board, Ana Amigo; and Mexican director and producer Gerardo Morán.
