10/23/2018.- The 63rd Valladolid International Film Festival screened the documentary Altamira: el origen del arte on Tuesday 23rd October, the new feature-length documentary by José Luis López-Linares, the product of the director’s filming trip to the caves of Altamira, where cameras hadn’t been allowed since the 1980s. The film is competing in the Time of History section.
The director attended the presentation of the documentary accompanied by producer Álvaro Longoria. The filming used special remote-controlled, high-resolution camera equipment and cold lights with high chromatic reproduction to avoid altering the natural conditions of the cave. The visit allowed the director to reflect on the origins of art using Altamira as a starting point.
López Linares was awarded second prize in this section at the 41st edition of the festival for Asaltar los cielos (1996), a film which was co-directed by Javier Rioyo. His documentary on El Bosco has been screened at cinemas and on television screens around the world.
